Can I ask:

1. Do you know whether are they coaches from cameron to KT?
I don't think there are any schedule coaches plying between Cameron Highlands and K.T. because there simply isn't enough number of people travelling between these two points. What I would do is take a coach from Cameron Highlands to K.L. and then from K.L. take another coach to K.T. At RWS there are many Malaysian coach ticket counters, if you happen to be there you can enquiry for tickets. Otherwise continue to search on the web for more information.

Alternatively, if you have a large group like 6 or more people, then chartering a coach with Pinganchorage (travel agency) to take you from point to point is another possibility, or a combination of coach chartering and public coaches.

Did you have a chance to see this webpage regarding transportation? http://www.redang.org/transport.htm

Here's a excerpt of it that may help...

Coaches to KT
KL to KT (7 hours):
Most coaches depart from Hentian Putra station (opposite PWTC). Choices of coaches include Transnasional, Konsortium, Damai, Plusliner, Sutera and Mutiara.

It will be like RM25 to RM30 per head from K.T. to Merang. Check with Laguna if they can help, if not then check with Pinganchorage or Coast to Coast, these are two travel agency based in K.T. that I have used and they are reliable.

thank you Tango for replying.

As we are thinking of heading to Cameron Highland before going to KT, hence if we take up the offer, we need to travel back to KL and then to KT.

If the transportation is by Laguna then I would recommend it, not that the other operators are no good, just that I have seen Laguna in action and it save you the hassle of tying up all the loose ends together. If there is any boat issues, or transportation is late, the ground crew will be in communication to sync up the transfers from land to sea transfers. That's just my two-cents, do the math and see if it is really worth the savings in tying up the other parts. This being your first time, just go with something that is less risky.

As I read from this Redang site that Shahbandar jetty is located near the bus terminal, saving the time to travel to Merang, but the boat ride is longer as compared to Merang.

Hence is it better to go Shahbandar or Merang jetty?
Once you choose your package that includes sea transfers, you go with the designated point of entry to Redang. Merang jetty has had it problems with big boats and some operators like Laguna have shifted their boat services from Merang to Shahbandar jetty.

The savings in time to travel to Merang depends if the coach is dropping you off at Merang or K.T.? If the coach drops you off at Merang then make sure your sea transfer is from Merang BUT if your coach drops your off at K.T. then you have to make provision to get to Merang jetty if the boat services is operating out of Merang. You have to ensure to sync your drop off location to jetty location AND departure time ... just go with the Laguna to solve your first time headaches.... again your choice to make.

is it worth it? As I read somewhere that the coach from KL to KT roughly around RM 36 one way

How much from KT to Merang Jetty? Usually we will reach very early in the morning, is it easy to find transports to jetty?

Lastly coming back usually a choice of morning boat then noon bus back to KL or Afternoon boat then evening bus ride. What would you recommend? are there things to see in KT?

If Merang Jetty, how long is the journey from KT bus terminal?

Need help on transportation from KL to Merang Jetty

Postby benson » Tue Jul 27, 2010 6:37 pm

Hi All:

Finally decided to bite the bullet to sign up for Laguna Redang 3D2N package even though the bad news that few snorkeling sites were being closed till next year.

I signed up with a deal with local agent for S$279 per pax for twin sharing 3D2N full packaged. Except that they dont include the transportation.

As I will be in KL before that, so will be traveling from KL instead of SG.

For full transportation (include from bus terminal in KT to Jetty) that would be additional S$60 each (total $339) is it worth it?

Anyone has idea on how to take coach from KL to Jetty? Roughly how much?

I believed i should take the 10pm bus the night before so to reach KT bus terminal around 5am and then make my way to the jetty, what's the option I have?

Lastly coming back, what's the bus leaving time from KT?

Thank you all for helping
