Crabs and painted lobsters are commonly seen at Tenggol, especially during night dives. There are also colourful shells like cowries but the biggest mollusc is the giant clam. There is a large specimen at the housereef in Teluk Air Tawar.

Close up of mantle of giant clam at Teluk Air Tawar, Jul 2005. Symbiotic zooxanthellae, an algae in the mantle, gives it its distinctive colours. The clam opens up to allow the zooxanthellae to receive sunlight to photosynthesize food.
