Loved our little paradise getaway, the sugar-white sand and gin-clear water. I've never seen as many different kinds of fish in one location. And the resort was awesome - great service and great food. All in all, Redang is a real treasure. Wish we could book our ferry online in advance, like the Tioman ferry. The confidence that your tickets are reserved, even when you've traveled from overseas, is better than not being sure there are tickets left after arriving in Kuala Terengganu. Travelling from Germany to Malaysia is quite a trip nevertheless I have been lucky enough to visit the country 4 times up to now. The last two trips took me to Redang last time only 3 weeks ago. I just would like to say that you do wonderful job maintaining this site. I have stayed at the LAGUNA BEACH RESORT 2 years ago which I really liked for their professionalism and a little less for the overdose on chinese food this time it was the REDANG BEACH RESORT.I came with my daughter to show her the beauty of the island and made her discover the marine life snorchling. I would say a great website with all the information and tips that you need to know when you visit Redang. Just came back from Redang last April and I am going again on June! Hi ! We were staying at Redang Kalong in march this year and I can really recomend this place. The weather wasn磘 wery good and the rooms maybe isn磘 five star quality but I would say that the people working there is fantastic and I give them at least 6 star. It was never some problems and everything could be fixed. We all thought that the food was great. Kalong has it磗 own beach and if you want to go to another beach it took only 10-15 minutes. Since the place isn磘 extremly big it was a friendly atmosphere and the people staying there were from all over the world. Hi, what a great site you have here. Plenty of useful information both on the island's resort & also of it's surrounding waters. I haven't visited Redang island before. I had just came back from Damai Puri Beach Resort & Spa in Kuching, Serawak & had a great weekend vacation over there. I went to Redang Island in August 2008, stayed at Redang Beach Resort (RBR). There was a misunderstanding the 1st day when my group and I had inadvertently awaited at Merang Jetty before going to the island and ended up boarding the resort's boat packed with foodstuff (The Resort provides ferry transfer from Syahbandar Jetty actually! ...my mistake!!). Yet it was rather an enjoyable boat trip (Thanks to the resort staff & the boatmen). For the new RBR guests, please ensure which jetty to wait before departing to the island. My family of 6(4 teenage chidren+2 adults) stayed in April 2008 & we all had an amazing time. Being able to snorkel from the beach is great. Stayed at Laguna which was beautiful in all ways. Dont like the "packages", would prefer to pay for rooms & decide where to eat each night, also the set snorkelling trips, would prefer not so much order to our stay. My girlfriend and I went to Redang in April and spent 4 days there. We really enjoyed ourselves. Staff in Redang Kalong is really friendly and the environment is tranquil and peaceful, and the underwater is fantastic! We had fun in Marine Park feeding hungry fishes. However, we still prefer some other destinations around the island to the crowded Marine Park. Anyway, there is no place in Redang that is disappointing. The mini pre-honey moon is great! i've just visited Redang Island recently for my PADI Open Water Diver Course from the 7th to 10th of April 2008. It's been very pleasant and the view underwater was fantastic! Hope you can put in more photos of deep sea adventure dives or wreck dives, because I was made to understand that there are a few old wrecks lying around the island. We have friends in Malaysia which we long to visit. The last time we were there we swam around the marine park, that was awsome for my family. My daughter really enjoyed herself. Just got back from this amazing island. Stayed at Coral Beach which was great. Island is beautiful ?sand white, sea crystal and warm, people very friendly and happy to have you visit. Only one thing I would say was negative was the music from the hotels at night ?why so loud? Surely they do not need to blast it out in paradise? Otherwise this is truly my sort of paradise. Diving excellent and the dive operation at the Coral was second to none ?brilliant, knowledgeable staff who care about the island and the sea. Thanks to this site we discovered a gem in Redang Island. We stayed at Laguna Redang. Hats off to them for running a superb service.Excellent service. The reefs are unbelievable. Needless to say, my trip to Redang was amazing and memorable (26-29 Mac 2007). In fact, I've made my decision to make it an annual event to visit Redang ( despite being so tanned after the trip!! ) This website has been so very helpful and provides all the necessary information needed. It made my planning easier and know what to expect. N best of all, it's up to date!! Once I set foot there,I was so reluctant to go home. So yes, Redang is officially my second home. I really enjoy reading this site. Thanks for the wonderful info. Well, I went to Redang last year Mar during the school holiday. Before the trip, I told myself to be mentally prepared for the 10hr or so journey by coach(as I'm not used to). But guess what, the moment I reached Laguna Redang, I felt so fresh and could not wait to got to the beach. I was happy that I've already arranged for extention of my stay there. this is one of the best sites i've been. excellent info for those who want to know more about redang. Great work! I'm actually a new diver and was in Perhentian 3 weeks ago for diving. Being a new diver, I was not able to identify the many different types of fish underwater. Your guide in identifying fishes is really useful and the pictures you posted are so beautiful! Never have I done this - signing in guest books... but I had to this time...to congratulate you on the most amazing job on your website and to commend you on your passion for Redang and your efforts in it's conservation. I was born and raised in K.Trg but now live with my Singapore with my husband and 2 kids. I sadly don't make it home very often (yes, I still call KT home even after all these years) because my family and work commitments now are entrenched in Singapore. I loved Redang and Perhentian as a kid and would go to the islands whenever opportunity presented itself. Which was not often then, as we had to travel on a fishing boat for nearly 3hrs before we got there and there were no resort or hotels to speak of then! But the islands were always beautiful and magical to a child. My last trip to Redang was over 12 years ago. My children now aged 9 and 4 respectively are avid fans of the islands. For even though I don't make it home, I make sure they do!They enjoy time on the islands with their God-Mama and God-Papa. It's wonderful to see their eyes light up when they speak of the islands, especially when they know they are returning to the islands soon. Glad to say, they are going again this June hols and this time with me and my husband in tow. And we are very excited about it. hi alex, what a wonderful and informative website you have here. i m from terengganu. i was at redang many years back, back then there was absolutely no chalet, we slept on the beach and redang has one beautiful waterfall,it was heaven. i went to redang last year, this is my 4th visit and i m sadly to say that this paradise is losing its charm due to the tourism business...with the new laguna chalet opening there, it becomes a disaster, it is just too commercialized with lots of disco and karaoke...no thanks to all the "chinese" mindset tourist whose idea of a fun trip is to dance and sing and make loud noise. the serenity of a island life is forever gone.not to mention all the pollution that caused by all the cigarette butts, drinking bottles, snack packages and everything. i wish the monsoon will be longer ...then at least redang got sometimes to breath .. :( sean Saturday, January 21st 2006 - 03:40:32 PM |

Great info for an excellent island resort, although basic, had a great friendly feel to it - we were very happy there. Diving was excellent - staying at resort enabled us to do several shore dives in addition to the boat dives - diving the drop-off from the shore was awesome every time. Was up at 6 am almost every day to get as much diving in as my computer would allow! Good value for money. Thanks for a lovely and wonderful website about Redang.. i've something 2 share with u guys...i've been to Redang for d 1st time on 9-11 April 05 with a group of 4 all ladies, we've plan to go holiday somewhere but do not know how we end-up going to Redang may be just because of the MAS Travel fair around the corner..but we make the right choice it did't dissapoint us at all.. the beach, the sun, the sea is marvellous it can't be describe in words... a month after that i've to go to Kota Bharu for an out station work.. well i plan my 2nd trip again to redang luckily enough i've to drive there so on 20-23 May 05, i drove down to Merang from Kota Bharu & it took me almost 2 hours to get to Merang Jetty..well for d 2nd time my 2nd trip after 1 month i'm in redang again with my best lady friend.. this time round we discover underwater world.. we went for snorkeling, we went on island tour to Lang Tengah, Pulau Pasir Panjang, Marine Park.. we've seen baby shark, turtle, colourful fishes, blue coral, cuttlefish etc we really enjoyed till whole of our body got sun tan.. Redang is the best island in the world not only the island but the people are friendly too.. we've meet few people's from the villagers who we charter their services to discover the island.. Unfortunately, we were unable to reach there and end up in Kuantan. The bus brokedown thrice along the way. Three times in every interval of 2hours. That was disastrous. One kind advice: Never ever buy coach tickets from Operator: ADIK BERADIK. We gave up and called our Resort to cancel our booking and was told that the weather was very bad on Saturday, waters were high and boats were unable to go into Redang. No choice took a town bus to Kuantan to rest for the day....now praying the weather in Redang to be sunny and bright everyday. hi , i think you're doing a fantastic job with this website, truely educational. i actually just got off from the island a few weeks ago on board with seatru helping them save turtles, here are a few pointers i would like to give to anyone who's planing to head on to redang: 1) do keep the place clean, plastic bags choke turtles and whole lot of stuff. 2) when snorkeling, please do not use sunblock, put on a t-shirt instead, sunblock kills corals, seriously. 3) also, don't feed the fish. it is sad, i did an experiment in the snorkeling spots, by cupping my hands, i get fish surrounding my hands... here's the theory of conditioning working at its best. 4) question your resort operators on their responsibilities in keeping redang environmentally sustainable. ask them about sewage/waste, sustainable tourist numbers, environmental commitments, ask them whatever. so...for those of you who are keen on going to redang, have fun... responsibly. chow chi ps:alex, it would be great if we can keep in touch Wednesday, June 2nd 2004 - 08:18:36 PM |

Just came back from a trip there , had my first scuba diving there .... only 1 word ,,,,, SHIOK ! and the dive centre ppl over at laguna dive centre is very friendly n helpful. Though the sea is not as clear n as nice as what it is 10 yrs back when i was there but nevertheless , it's still better then singapore swimming pool :P So guys ... go there while u can or u will regret ... cos can see thay the sea is getting dirty with alot of dead coral ... and now n then u see some rubbish ... so sad .... Hi, Good page on the island. I just came back fm there (8-11Aug 02) The place was a good experience. Except there were lots of litter found on some beaches & coral reefs which is very sad. But the place is still very nice. I was staying at RedangKelong. Manage to site a green turle, a small reef shark & a big one about 1.8m just 100m off the resort. hai,i just want to say lots of thanks because of your website my friends and i had a wonderful trip to redand island for the past 2 years. i'm from port dickson,negeri sembilan,m'sia.in 2000,when i was studying in TAR College,i decided to go to redang together with the other 4 girls.but we don't have much information from transportation to lodging.and our parents were quite worried because there are no experienced people(or guy)with us. i surfed on the internet to see if there are any recommendations.i found u and also came to know about ping$anchorage.we signed and we were very pleased that we had made the right choice. last year,my coursemates(all guys 'coz i'm studying mechanical engineering)wanted to visit redang island.so,with the past experence,our journey was very smooth. maybe u think it's not a big deal but i really appreciate your help because the redang trips were my most precious memories... you must know Kelvin,Don,Wahchai,and Steven then,i assumed.they are nice people. well,that's all for now... again, keep up the good work !!! As with a lot of Hong Kong people, we are attracted by the beautiful beaches and blue sky in Redang by the film Summer Holiday or we would not know the existence of this island. Just feel happy to see so many people like Redang. It's just a sea away from my home-sweet-hom, and I only managed to go there after I started working! Once a year, I would go back to the sea to feel it's warmest regards to whom, had worked for long time and stayed among the concrite buildings. :p Glad to see more people visit Redang, so that people in KT also earning and growing from the income. :-) Thanks to the Summer Holiday, which let more people knows about Redang. We visited Redang entirely due to your magnificent web site. One of the best I have found on the net. Thankyou. We stayed for ten days at the Berjaya. Maybe the rooms are a little on the small side, and as New Zealanders, we were horrified at the "additional" costs. Things like flippers and snorkels are free for the use of people staying in resorts in Fiji and Australia. [Our two closest snorkelling countries.] It was extraordinary to meet the Groper under the jetty that I'd read about so far away here in Christchurch New Zealand. Amazing. One small quibble, you say the snorkelling close to the Berjaya Beach Resort is only average. Well we didn't spend as much time in some of the other places you mentioned, but as far as we were concerned, the snorkelling there was as good as everywhere else. Some days it was better. We never went out that we didn't see sharks .. turtles if you kept to the edge of the reef .. and everything in between. I only saw one crown on thorns on that site, so my bigger concern was the fact that Japanese tourists constantly feed bread to the fish close in to the beach for their photographs, consequently, in that area BEFORE you get to the reef, you run the danger of being bitten by some of the trigger fish who are waiting for their bread. i visited redang island somewhere in april. i found it to be a very interesting island as described in your website. to share my experience with u: this is my first time to redang island with 3 of my other friends. the part that scared most of us is the one on the way to the island, it rained heavily. and we and about 6 others were caught in the rain on the open air speedboat. its what we call that the most scariest one hour boat ride that we experienced. we have had no idea that there is heavy rain and yet the speedboat operator still goes on. we were all soak in the rain and its a heavy rain. we were almost thrown outta the boat. as we reached the island, we found that everything is compensated. we stayed in redang reef resort with the most basic accommodation facility but its great coz its far from other resort that offer karaoke and loud music. besides the great sea, we were there when 'summer holiday' takes its shot. we too hope that 'summer holiday' will not commercialise redang island too much. once again, would like to praise u and ur partner on ur great job in this site. it really give much more info about redang island. I have been explaining to friends on the wonders of Redang Island but i suppose your website does wonders in making it easier for me to share with friends. My visit to Redang Holiday Beach Villa was nothing but sheer joy ... just like an episode out of 'Fantasy Island'. Tan, one of the managers is a real charmer. He is great fun, witty and a really-down- to-earth chap. The partner, Diana runs the chalet like a well-oiled machine .. not a thing complaint goes unignored. Just back from a fantastic week's diving (11th-17th Sept) in Redang with Leisure Divers at Redang Reef. I spent a lot of time reading through your website before we went and I have to say that I too am hooked! Redang Reef staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was good and plentiful. I have attended a turtle conservation program in Redang last year for 1 week and have enjoyed the unspoilt natrue life there. I appreciate the efforts you have contributed including setting up this webpage to urge the nature protection of our beloved island ! Dear Alex & team ! I am from Slovenia, a tiny country on the sunny side of the Alps with lot of snow in the winter. Last August I have travelled with my family in Malaysia and the best part were three days on Perhentian Besar. It was so marvelous that we will repeat the tour with special attention to West Coast Islands.
